Delicious food and reasonable prices. Not much seating so you may have to take it to-go. Horchata is amazing.

Most of the food is pretty good, but their queso dip is more flour and milk than cheese.

Authentic and tasty Mexican Cuisine. I really enjoy their tacos. Normally, I do not enjoy corn tortillas, but they make their own corn tortillas and fry them up for all their tacos. They are amazing! This place is kind of an out-of-the-way, hole-in-the-wall sort of place, but the food is worth it. If you like Mexican food, this beats out any of the Tex-Mex places around by far. I've been here many times and plan to return.

Legitimate tacos and sauces at a solid price! Plan for your food to take a little longer during the lunch rush, but it is totally worth the wait.

authentic Mexican food the meats and sauces are amazing. it's a small place and can get quite busy so going on off hours to give it a try is a good idea.

Everything here is excellent. If you’re reading this, just go. My fave is the cabrito (spicy) pork tacos and horchata, but seriously everything is good. It’s been almost ten years since my first taco here. La Michoacana has never disappointed, and I’ve not had better Mexican food. Hard stop. Pic is of the carnitas because it’s a little more photogenic.

As a Mexican woman I always have high standards for restaurants who claim they serve authentic Mexican food. La Michoacana exceed those expectations. Wide variety of choices, clean place, friendly staff. Prices aren’t too bad. Try it!

This review is concerning the lack of health precautions during COVID-19 and not the food (which I really like). It is April 25 and we stopped by to pick up food. There is still in-restaurant eating available and neither the employees nor most of the guests who stop by to pick up food are wearing masks. We will not be returning till things get better and encourage the establishment to take necessary steps to protect the health of their employees and their customers.

Great spot for authentic Mexican food (not Tex-Mex) Tortillas made on premises are the freshest you'll find. Meat choices for the adventurous and also mainstream. Reasonably priced and made to order. This location has limited seating so be patient or take to go.

Really excellent food. They have a takeout counter, inside seating, and a patio. Highly recommend. Definitely try the pupusas. The vegetarian tamale was also excellent.

Wonderful experience with the tacos with fresh made tortilla. Don’t understand the previous review as the food was anything but bland; everything was fresh and nicely presented. Just moved here from Texas. So when I say i have high standards for mexican food, i mean it! This place kicks butt. Food is great!!! Homemade corn tortillas, friendly service, the pastor is delicious. The Torta was awesome as well! Mole chicken enchiladas were bomb!

Their pozole and menudo are undefeated. I cannot say this enough. The absolute best soups in town is not a reach...might be the best menudo and pozole on the east coast!

Amazing, authentic tacos. I was recommended by a friend, stopped in after a long day of unpacking from a move and they are the closest thing to the best tacos I’ve ever had from Mexico City. Highly recommended!!!

Uh amazing? I am Hispanic and have grown up my entire life around mexican food and this place is authentic. Don't let all the suburban folks fool you, it's worthwhile. They now accept credit cards too. Very small seating area but their food outweighs that. They are quick with the food and they have a a myriad of meat options including lengua. Will always continue to come here.

Tacos just so so and barely warm.

Visit every chance I can get. Their Cabrito is flavorful delicious; I haven't had a combination plate I didn't like.

I'll give them 5 stars when they put the lengua back on their menu. All ibwanted was a lil tongue action and they couldnt do it. Food was good though.

Best Mexican food in cville easy!!!!

I stopped by la Michoacana restaurant and grabbed a lunch recently. I have been looking for a place in C-ville with great Mexican food... I believe I have found it! FYI ....I was a server at the #1 reviewed Mexican food restaurant in Taos, New Mexico for several months. The chef there, Antonio, made fresh and authentic Mexican food....that is what they are doing at la Michoacana. My enchilada plate was delicious and the menu has real variety. Reasonable prices, too. Small in size... just a few tables. Stop by for a special taste experience.

The salsas were watered down and the tacos/meat were set and tasteless. The only pro flavor that was worth the price of paying beforehand was the jarrito and the horchata

I love this restraunt. The tacos are affordable and delicious and the portions are very generous. We have 4 kids and can feed all 6 of us with only 3 or 4 entrees. It is great! I like the sauces but I wish they had an extremely spicy one. It seems like most places in Charlottesville are pretty tame on the spice levels. I think people who like heat would appreciate something that'd make them sweat :)

Enjoyed authentic Mexican food rather than Tex-Mex. Pastor sopes were very good. Very casual atmosphere. The 1 drawback was that they only had flimsy plastic utensils.

Great tacos ! I also loved the menudo and posole that they had at the restaurant. It was clean and the people there are friendly.

Truly a hidden gem tucked away in Cville's east neighborhood. Spectacular tacos!

Nice cozy place in a converted house. I usually get the tacos (Mexican style). My wife loves the chicken tamales. We had the guacamole last time and it was great. You pay when you order at the counter, and so minus one star for having a POS system that wants a tip before you are served. Happy to leave one on the table when leaving if deserved, but food is set on the counter and you pick it up yourself. I don't think anyone is working for tips. Sorry for the rant.

A little hole in the wall that you can miss if your not careful but definitely recommend if you love Mexican food it’s a Diamond in a ruff

Delicious, authentic Mexican food. Love this place! Price is right and the food is worth every penny. It's kind of a little hole in the wall place with limited parking and seating, so be prepared for a short wait if you visit during peak hours--again, totally worth it. Cannot recommend enough!

This place is a true gem! I have lived in the area all of my life and yet somehow I just found out about this place. I have been making up for lost time however by eating there 2-3 times a month. The food here is amazing, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. If you want amazing and authentic tacos in Charlottesville this is your place!

Unbelievably authentic and delicious!! Wish I could get this every week!! We we're able to cater a meal for 30 people- build your own chicken fajitas. It was so good- just thinking about it makes my mouth water!!
